Shelley Hayes
Finance Executive (Retired)
Stim Trial Panelist
Bio
Shelley was injured sleepwalking down a flight of stairs in 2018. She destroyed her T6 vertebra, partially compressing her spinal cord, leaving her a complete (ASIA A) paraplegic. In September 2022, Dr. Samadani implanted an epidural stimulator and since then she has been learning how to best use it with the amazing guidance from the physical therapists at TRYAbility Nuerorecovery Center and participating in the ESTAND Long Term Outcomes study. Shelley lives in the Chicago suburbs with her husband, 13-year-old daughter and 2 cats. When she is not in physical therapy, you can find her sailing on Lake Michigan, watching her daughter’s volleyball games or working a NYT crossword puzzle.
