2 Weeks Left for FDA Feedback

Matthew Rodreick

The FDA is currently open to public comments from the SCI community until October 30th. If you are a stakeholder in this field (PLEX, Family/Caregiver, Researcher, Clinician, Industry, Foundation, etc) please share your experience of SCI by submitting a public comment to the FDA now.

Whether or not you attended the PFDD meeting, it’s important you leave a public comment. This is your chance to share your experience with the FDA so they can better account for the complexity of our condition when evaluating treatments.

And if you’re looking for a pointed message, consider highlighting the uniqueness of SCI - that it is not a simple injury, but is instead a condition of conditions (i.e. it involves a cascade of secondary complications like UTIs, nerve pain, autonomic dysreflexia, etc) that severely effect our quality of life.

We need the FDA to broaden their regulatory lens so that any treatment that benefits any aspect of SCI function (whether it was the intended target or not) can be considered for approval. Right now that’s not the case. By sharing your perspective and experience you can help shape how the FDA engages with prospective SCI treatments going forward.

If we want to see our regulatory system change, then we need to raise our voice - and this is your chance to add your point of view. Make a comment and then encourage others in the SCI community to share their thoughts before the deadline on October 30, 2026.

Join us!

PS - Thanks again to the North American Spinal Cord Injury Consortium (NASCIC) who organized this effort alongside many organizations, companies and associations across the SCI landscape. If you missed the meeting and would like to watch any or all of it, you can find the full recording at https://www.scipfdd.org/.
