A Note on Hurricane Helene

Matthew Rodreick

I’m writing to you from Atlanta, Georgia, where we are busy preparing for our 19th Annual Science & Advocacy Symposium.

As you may have seen, Hurricane Helene has conspired to complicate things. While we don’t know how bad the storm’s impact will be, we are watching the developments closely. It appears right now that the thrust of the storm will arrive here Friday morning.

For those of you who are signed up to come, or are still considering coming to our in-person meeting, I wanted to relay the following information:

  1. We are still planning to go ahead with the in-person meeting.
  2. We know our SCI community and know the narrow margins for deciding to travel. Please use your discretion and make the decision you feel most comfortable with.
  3. Don't worry about us - if you decide you cannot make it, we will refund your in-person registration fee and you can watch the livestream.

Those of us in the SCI community are used to navigating challenging circumstances. U2FP will make every effort to ensure that your conference experience is safe and fulfilling, however you decide to participate.

Thanks for being a part of this important event!
