Awareness in Action

Quinn Brett

If you could drive to a clinic tomorrow, pay $100,000, and permanently get back one thing you lost after your SCI - you’d do it right? I know I would. Even though I don’t have anything close to $100k. I’d figure out a way - extreme financing, kickstarter, panhandling, etc - I’d get the money.

Well guess what? That $100,000 fantasy number - not completely fictional. Watch the video below where me and my colleagues, Jason Stoffer and Matthew Rodreick, briefly explain the generous opportunity that fell into our lap.

Turns out, an anonymous individual with an SCI just offered to MATCH all donations to U2FP during SCI Awareness month! So today, U2FP is launching the Awareness in Action campaign. All donations made to U2FP during the month of September will be matched up to $100,000!

And we’re off to a great start with a $10,000 donation that just came in a few minutes ago!

What would that one thing be? Your ability to breathe on your own? Grab something with your hands again? Feel your bladder? Enjoy all the sensations of sex again?

I know what mine would be (no more nerve pain - ever! ever! ever!). But I wanted to hear from the SCI community too. So, I reached out and asked my friends if they would share their “one thing” with me in a short video. Since it’s SCI Awareness Month, I’ll be sharing their videos on our social media channels. Consider making a video of your own and tagging us (@u2fp) on Instagram.

Help us secure all $100,000 from this generous SCI donor so that we can help accelerate the pace and quality of functional recovery after SCI.

PS - If you wanna press the flesh with all the expert stakeholders working on functional recovery research, then register for U2FP’s Science & Advocacy Symposium. Join us in Atlanta on September 27-28 for this one-of-a-kind event!
