How Big is the Divide between Care and Cure?

Matthew Rodreick

What kind of limits do we set on our expectations? What can we accomplish with a team of ordinary, dedicated individuals? How wide is the divide between adaptation and physical recovery after SCI? These are the questions that Jason Stoffer and Quinn Brett will be addressing at our film screening in Minneapolis tomorrow night.

Is the schism between adaptation and recovery really as wide as it feels like?

We’ll watch two short documentaries (40 mins total) that follow their harrowing journeys as they hand-cycle through the Grand Canyon and the 3000+ mile Divide Trail from Canada to Mexico.  Spots are filling up. Don’t wait - get your tickets now. All proceeds benefit Unite 2 Fight Paralysis.

Whether you're an able-bodied outdoor enthusiast, an adaptive athlete, an SCI scientist or clinician or a curious member of the SCI community, we want to hear your questions and reflections during this discursive event. We’ll have drinks, dessert and plenty of great discussion.

We’ll also have a random drawing where we’ll give away four gift certificates for use at the Twin Cities Running Company - our thank you just for showing up!

Attendees will also have a chance to bid on one of 10 pairs of day passes that were provided by the Minneapolis Bouldering Project. Plus there will be beer courtesy of 56 Brewing, wine, snacks and dessert. We’ll even have some fun offerings from Addidas Terrex.

Quinn and Jason are excited to present these films, and to share the ways in which they see these athletic feats as the perfect metaphor for the advocacy work we do here at U2FP.

So, come out tomorrow Tuesday, June 4th at 7pm in the Tek Box Theater in the Hennepin Center for the Arts. We look forward to seeing you there.
