The Final Hurdle in Wisconsin (Again)

Matthew Rodreick

Once again we are close to passing our proposed $5M SCI Research Grant bill in Wisconsin…and once again we are being held hostage by a small group of legislators who refuse to bring our bill to the floor for a vote.

Using an arbitrary procedural maneuver called the “Rule of 17,” these senators are preventing our $5M funding bill from a full vote in the Wisconsin Senate, where we know we have the votes to pass. This stalling tactic could be overruled by Senator Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu. He could do the right thing, bypass this stupid rule and send our bill to the Senate floor for a vote.

Please pick up the phone and call Senator LeMahieu. Tell him to override the “Rule of 17” and push our $5M SCI Research Grant bill (SB99) to the Senate floor for a vote. Make legislators go on the record about whether or not they support investing in SCI research funding.

We have the votes in the Senate; Majority Leader LeMahieu just needs to have the guts to do the right thing. No matter what state or country you live in, call him and deliver this simple message right now:

"Senate Majority Leader LeMahieu,

Do the right thing: override the Rule of 17 and put our $5M Spinal Cord Injury Research bill (SB99) on the Senate floor for a vote."

Please call and email right now.

Thank you!
