Time for a Floor Vote in Wisconsin

Wisconsin CAN Advocates at the capitol this past spring (from left): Samantha Troyer, Dan Hellenbrand, Jason Stoffer and John Martinson.

As many of you know, our Cure Advocacy Network has been working hard in Wisconsin to pass a $3M SCI Research Grant Bill this year.

It has been a long and difficult - but successful - journey, passing through committees, gaining legislative friends, and even making the news!

We were set up for success this fall, with the only hoop remaining to get a floor vote for passage, until some big political distractions entered the picture. Now, we are in the precarious position of being lost in the turmoil.

We need our bill champions to be loud and bring this bill to the floor.  Please reach out to them today and let your voice be heard.  Encourage them to not allow political waves to make this worthy ship run aground.

You can say something like this (but remember to make it your own):

Dear [Legislator Name Here],

My name is ____  ______, and I [have a spinal cord injury / am family/friend of someone with a spinal cord injury].

Please our Spinal Cord Injury Research Grant Bill (AB19/SB27) to the floor for a vote. You know better than most how smart and efficient this appropriation is.

I need you to help us get SCI research out of the lab and into people like [me/my family/friend]. We desperately need this bill to pass this session - our community can’t wait!

And remember, if you would like to call but feel odd talking to an actual person, you can always call after hours and leave a message sharing your support.

Please call and/or write our bill authors:

Senator Van Wanggaard
(608) 266-1832
Sen.Wanggaard@legis.wisconsin.gov

Representative Paul Tittl
(608) 237-9125
Rep.Tittl@legis.wisconsin.gov

This bill is SO, SO close.  Let's give it the attention it deserves and get this thing passed.
